Ministry of Textiles and FICCI are organizing a event Technotex in April 21-23 2016 to highlight India's technical textile potential in India. The event will help projecting the status, facilities and services on R&D, quality control, government regulations and controls and rules and procedures of technical textile industry in India. The expo will be the latest products, machinery, equipment and developments in the industry for generating business. The show will also encourage joint venture partnerships, project collaborations, transfer of technology, investments and R&D. (NA)
Technical Textiles are materials like diapers, fire resistant materials with unique functional properties which has a huge untapped potential in India. Its market size is projected at Rs. 1600 billion by 2018 with a growth rate of 20%. To tap the potential, Ministry of Textiles have implemented several schemes. It has established Four Centres of Excellence (CoE) i.e., BTRA for Geotextiles, SASMIRA for Agrotextiles, NITRA for Protective Textiles and SITRA for Medical Textiles. These Centre of Excellence provide infrastructure support in terms of facilities for testing with national and international accreditation, development of resource centre with I.T. infrastructure, facilities for training, prototype development, standards development on technical textiles, etc. Ministry of Textil
Government of India is likely to make the use of technical and geo-textiles mandatory in construction of infrastructure like roads, ports and dams, as well as in sectors like defence and railways to promote technical textiles sector. It may enhance capital subsidies to procure machinery, which are largely imported, is under consideration. It is also toying with an idea of encouraging start-ups to enlist their participation in geo-textile making by supporting them through the textile technology mission scheme. Further, safety of operations in construction of road, ports, airports, railways, canals, dams and sectors like defence will be upgraded with technical and geo-textiles.
