Edible Oil production increases in 2016-17

Edible oil production in India is estimated at 7.28 million tonnes for the oil year 2016-17 against the production of 5.8 million tonnes in 2015-2016. The increase in oilseeds output is attributed to the higher yield of 936 kg per hectare as against 680 kg/ha and the increased acreage of crops from 185.19 lakh hectares to 190.31 lakh hectares.
