Indian Fan Industry adopts star rating for its products

Indian fan industry is ready to meet the proposed voluntary star-rated energy saving products, according to the Indian Fan Manufacturers' Association (IFMA). Five-star rated fans can save 35 per cent of energy consumption. The saving would vary based on the rating given by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). The rating system could have applicable ?star? certification starting from one to five. Certain pockets of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra have been chosen for a pilot project. Through the State discoms, consumers can exchange their old fans for the energy efficiency rated fans. Easy and staggered financing has also been organised for the changeover programme.
