Odisha government accords in-principle approval for Dhamara airport

Odisha government has accorded in-principle approval for setting up a commercial airport near Dhamra port in Bhadrak district of the state. Dhamara Port Company Ltd (DPCL), run by the Adani Group had submitted a proposal to the government earlier. Now, Bhadrak district administration has acquired some land for the proposed airport and for setting up a port-based industrial park.

Himachal Pradesh government keen to develop airport at Mandi

Himachal Pradesh government is keen to develop a airport in Mandi in the state. A team of Airport Authority of India (AAI) has visited will visit Mandi to conduct a survey for the construction of an international airport there. The proposed site are Ner Dhangu in Balh sub division, Gogradhar in Padar and Mobiseri in Gohar Sub division along with some other sites for a pre-feasibility report.

AAI and SAIL to operate Burnpur, Rourkela and Bokaro airports

Airports Authority of India (AAI) and SAIL (Steel Authority of India Ltd ) have signed a MoU for operating the remote airports of Burnpur, Rourkela and Bokaro under UDAN scheme. These airports are mainly patronized by SAIL employees as SAIL steel is the fulcrum of these cities. According to MoU, AAI will provide technical guidance and support, while SAIL will bear all the cost of terminal maintenance and operations. The MoU agreement is valid for a period of three years and will be reviewed after 3 years with mutual consent.
