Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is all set to deploy electric vehicle as per the government directive of state government of Andhra Pradesh. The temple management will use electric cars for commuting which will be hired on a monthly basis from Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), Initially, they will deploy 50 vehicles each in selected areas, including the TTD and New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited (NREDCAP) will pay EESL Rs 20,000 per vehicle per month and give another Rs 20,000 per month to the departments concerned to pay for the driver and maintenance costs. Commuters can visit charging station and get the battery swapped in 3 minutes. However, it will be a subscription based model and there will be modification and will be fitted with modular battery packs. Kia Motors along with Mojo Mobility, U.S. Department of Energy?s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Hyundai-Kia have developed a fast-charging wireless power transfer system on a test fleet of Kia Soul EVs. The solution looks futuristic, where a car is parked over a transmitter and it gets charged by an electromagnetic field to transfer energy between two coils?a transmitter on the ground and a receiver on the bottom of the vehicle. The system will help to park the car in alignment and in future it may impact the overall design of future EV and hybrid vehicles.
